SPEECH DIFFICULTY
An untreated tongue tie often results in impaired speech.
Some children can develop normal sounding speech over time. However, many children continue to have imprecise articulation, especially when speaking quickly.
Note – Treatment is performed on people of all ages.
Dribbling, dental hygiene, gagging, and eating can all be affected if left untreated.
In adulthood, issues can progress to jaw discomfort, protrusion, pain and displacement, and can have a significant negative impact on a person’s self-confidence. Other effects include normal social behavior such as speech, voice projection, kissing, and unnecessary stress.
